How should I burn my candle for the first time?

The first burn is the most important. Allow your candle to burn long enough to create a full melt pool, meaning the melted wax reaches close to the edge of the container. This may take up to 4 hours depending on the size of the candle.

This helps establish a proper “burn memory,” which can prevent tunneling and help your candle burn evenly throughout its life.

How do I take care of the wick?

Before each relight, trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch. Proper wick care helps reduce smoke, soot, and wick “mushrooming” while encouraging a cleaner, more even burn.

For best results, do not burn your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time.

How can I burn my candle safely?

Candles can pose a fire hazard if not used properly. Always follow these candle safety guidelines:

• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant, level surface.
• Keep candles away from bedding, curtains, décor, clothing, and anything flammable.
• Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
• Do not burn candles near open windows, vents, fans, or drafts.
• Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn.
• Do not burn candles for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
• Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains.
• Follow all burn and care instructions provided.

What is Sea Love?

Sea Love is a candle bar and boutique where guests create custom fragrance blends for candles, reed diffusers, perfume, and other scent-based products. Each experience is designed to be creative, personal, and memorable.

Can I make my own custom candle at Sea Love?

Yes. During a Sea Love candle-making experience, you choose and blend your own custom fragrance, then pour it into a candle vessel with guidance from our team.

Can my Sea Love candle vessel be refilled?

Yes. For candles made during your Sea Love experience, bring back your clean, empty jar and save $5 on your next experience at participating locations.

Clean your jar using one of the methods below before bringing it back.

Freezer Method: Place the cooled candle jar in the freezer for 30 minutes to 4 hours, then gently loosen and remove the wax with a butter knife.

Melting Method: During the final burn, carefully pour melted wax onto a paper towel or disposable surface, then wipe the jar clean while warm.

Boiling Method: Carefully pour boiling water into the jar with remaining wax. Let sit for 4–5 hours until the wax rises and solidifies on top for easy removal.

How long will my candle burn?

Burn times vary based on candle size, wick care, and burn conditions.

• 12 oz candles: 40+ hours
• 16 oz candles: 65+ hours
• Double wick candles: 90+ hours

What kind of wax does Sea Love use?

Sea Love uses 100% U.S.-grown soy wax, a renewable vegetable wax known for its clean burn and excellent fragrance throw.

What kind of fragrance oils does Sea Love use?

We use high-quality fragrance oils, many of which are infused with essential oils. Our fragrances are phthalate-free and free of known carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and other chemicals commonly considered harmful in home fragrance products.

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?

Essential oils are extracted from plants, while fragrance oils are carefully formulated blends created in fragrance labs.

Fragrance oils allow for greater scent consistency, safer and more stable formulations, and more sustainable sourcing. For example, it can take thousands of pounds of rose petals to produce just one ounce of rose essential oil.

How are Sea Love fragrances made to smell realistic?

Fragrances are created using a blend of naturally derived ingredients from plants and flowers along with synthetic aroma molecules. These carefully crafted molecules mimic scent compounds found in nature, helping fragrances smell remarkably true to life.

What is Sea Love’s reed diffuser base made of?

Our diffuser base is a professionally formulated carrier solution designed to gently and effectively disperse fragrance through reeds into the air. It contains performance ingredients, including Augeo Clean Multi®, a plant-derived ingredient commonly used in premium home fragrance products, along with additional diffusion agents for stability, consistent scent throw, and overall diffuser performance.

Our current formula is designed to support optimal evaporation and reed performance while meeting applicable VOC compliance standards when used at recommended fragrance levels.

Are Sea Love products safe for pets?

Sea Love products are formulated with high standards for ingredient safety and are designed to release fragrance in moderate, diluted concentrations through wax or diffuser base.

Many customers safely enjoy our products around pets, but animals can have different sensitivities, just like people. If you have concerns, consult your veterinarian and monitor pets for signs of sensitivity while fragranced products are in use.

Why does my soy candle have wet spots or frosting?

Wet spots and frosting are common, natural characteristics of 100% soy wax. They are usually caused by temperature changes during cooling or storage.

These are purely aesthetic and do not affect scent throw or burn performance. In many cases, the appearance improves once the candle is burning and the jar warms.
